5/30 Class

It was realy cool tonight when everyone in my group was logged on to our wiki and lookin on at their own compuer to see what was going on. Also, if one person wanted to change something they could hop on and change it and everyone in the group could see it changed. This was much better then waiting for one member of the group to make changes. Also, we could each work on one page while others were working on other pages. This was cool. I enjoyed doing group work this way I did not feel useless waiting for others to finish their parts.

Today's class was informative. I have never blogged or used wikis before. I discused with my group some uses for blogs. The two that I liked and I would be willing to try in my classroom would be to use a blog as a way for students to have a book talks. We have completed literature circles in class in small groups but this would allow the students to react to a story on their own time without teacher assistance. I also like the idea to have the student write a paragraph about a topic and other students can edit or make comments about the paragraph. Third grade students have a hard time making positive constructive comments about others work. This way they can have time to think and say how they feel with out somebody staring them down.

Class 5/16

Last nights class was an overload. I do know that on the first class of the semester I always leave feeling like there will never be enough time to complete everything assigned. But by the end of the semester I have finished it all and don't even know how it happened.

Last night we got into our groups and picked an advocacy project. My group picked Parent Involvement. We decided that children don't come with an instruction manual but some parent need one. We would like to see some parent more involved in their children's education. I am excited to start discussing this topic with my group some more and finding a way to reach these parents.
